About Newtown Medical Centre
We are a large medical practice providing GP services to the people of Athlone and its environs since the early 1970’s. We started in practice at Newtown Medical Centre where we are located right in the heart of the town at Newtown Terrace.
We were pleased to expand our practice into the heart of Monksland in the early 2000’s where we provide GP services to the greater Athlone community.
Our team are highly qualified and experienced in the various fields of General practice and we provide an extensive range of services including Antenatal care, Mens and Womens Health checks, Children’s health checks, Menopause Clinics, Travel Advisory and Vaccination Services and a wide range of screening tests and checks.
Our computers are fully networked, and patient records are accessible to healthcare staff at both sites. We are a training practice and are affiliated with the University of Limerick as a teaching practice.
New Patients
We are currently working at capacity and are not accepting new patients.
Due to ever increasing demand, our medical card and private patient lists are reviewed regularly to see if there is space on our list.
